Jason Giambi Joins the EA SPORTS Triple Play Baseball Lineup

EA SPORTS signs 2000 American League MVP to be "In the Game"

REDWOOD CITY, California -- February 28, 2001 -- Electronic Arts and Jason Giambi, the 2000 American League™ MVP and All-Star first baseman for the Oakland Athletics, have reached an agreement naming Giambi as EA SPORTS™ spokesman for Triple Play Baseball™. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Giambi is coming off his finest season in the majors where he led the team in home runs (43) and runs batted in (137) and was a key factor in the Athletics winning the American League divisional title. Giambi's image will appear on all Triple Play Baseball packaging and merchandising and he will lend his baseball knowledge to game development for the ultimate in-game realism and authenticity.

"I've played video games for years and I am very excited to be working with EA SPORTS," Giambi said. ``The graphics in their games are so lifelike. It's amazing how real everything looks, right down to the swing of my bat. It's also cool to be among guys like Alex (Rodriguez), Sammy (Sosa) and Mike (Piazza) who've been on the cover. Triple Play will be a huge hit with the guys in the

clubhouse."

Triple Play Baseball is loaded with features that make the on field experience come to life with accurate player models, shapes, and likenesses as well as intuitive shadows and lighting. All 30 Major League Baseball® stadiums, including Miller Park in Milwaukee and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, are recreated in precise details according to their blueprints.

'We are thrilled about Jason joining the EA SPORTS team," said Triple Play executive producer Marc Aubanel. "From his motion captured data to his MVP insights, we believe Jason's input will allow us to create a more realistic, on field experience for gamers and baseball fans alike."

Triple Play Baseball for the PlayStation® game console, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PC will be available for the start of the 2001 baseball season.
